2023 - Body of Work
Reverie of Memories
(2:14 mins)
"Reverie of Memories" is a time-based form that aims to illustrate visual, abstract depictions of the early childhood experience. It emits the notion of nostalgia layered over childhood innocence, intended to evoke feelings of poignancy for audience to question if they still view the world as freely and imaginatively as they were once as kids. This concept is strengthened through incorporating my own personal childhood experiences by referencing a popular Australian children's television series, "Giggle and Hoot," a show I've watched frequently when I was little, as might the audience have as well, which may remind them that childhood is a fleeting memory. I enjoy using bright colours to install a child-like yet magical experience. I intend to implement small elements of surrealism into my Body of Work as it assists in constructing the view between the familiarity and discomfort of childhood memories. Regarding surrealism, I am influenced by Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory" (1931), and Rene Magritte's "Personal Values" (1952) and "The Son of Man" (1964).

Behind The Scenes
In 2023, HSC Visual Arts students were required to produce a Body of Work (BOW) to showcase their knowledge and skills in the artmaking process.
"Reverie of Memories" was recorded in the Visual Arts Process Diary (VAPD) consistently from late 2022 to mid-July 2023. It documented the development of the project, from initial concept sketches to the final animation. The diary offers a detailed insight into my creative process. Below are some examples of my documentations.
